Since 2022, most of the world has gotten into new uncertainty due to the global geopolitical situation that started with the Russia – Ukraine conflict, followed by a steep jump in prices of energy sources – electricity, gas, and oil. That led to a long time no seen inflation. And that’s just a few months after COVID lockdowns, in many countries lasting for a couple of years.
Many companies prepared themselves for the survival mode.
Another turbulence was created by overly optimistic growth, consumption, and resource forecasts by several companies, which led to the downsizing of the number of employees.
Whether small or midsize businesses or large corporations and organizations, most are concerned with launching new initiatives, R&D projects, and business directions and being very careful about growth and scaling.
The biggest concern is hiring new employees to drive those new directions.
Many countries, especially those in the European Union, experience tough labor regulations, mainly favoring and protecting employees. That is an additional burden to the already weakened business sector. Companies can hardly afford employment-related overhead costs, e.g., – unemployment fund, social taxes on companies’ behalf, and other motivational costs – bonuses, training budgets, team building, vacations, sick leave, etc.
As entrepreneurs drive businesses and are creative in finding workarounds, alternative personnel sourcing channels are being considered.
Freelance services and portals are growing like mushrooms after the rain.
That is one of the reasonable alternatives, but it also brings its struggles – making freelancers motivated, loyal, delivering, and buying into the culture.
Analyzing these shortcomings of freelance employment, value-added services in this direction started to appear to address the pains that Fiverr, Upwork, and similar companies have not been able to solve. The goal is not only to perform company-freelance match and contracting but also quality assure and take employment / contracting / performance tracking / billing and teambuilding overhead away from the client.
ServAgora is committed to become the most user-centric platform in this regard.
In the next posts, we will continue with the analysis of the employee vs. freelance cost structure, benefits of value-added services, how to build cooperation within a remote team, and many more.
